Quick Buying Guide
For the best translucent protection on exterior timber always use a pigmented woodstain rather than a clear varnish etc. Its the pigment part of the woodstain which is best at absorbing UV radiation - protecting your timber and preventing it from turning grey and 'denatured'.For really translucent woodstains which show off the grain of your timber to best effect, choose from our range of Sikkens products. Sikkens manufacture the most translucent woodstains on the market due to their unusual Basecoat / Topcoat system. The majority of the pigment is contained in their Basecoat which penetrates the timber and leaves a very thin film coating which does not obscure the grain of your timber. Subsequent topcoats are then applied using their lightly pigmented Topcoats. This ensures that the grain of your timber is not obscured during first - and future - decorations. Choose a light colour from their range if you wish to minimise any change of colour in your timber.
